Chicago, 1947 Morris Topchevsky was born in the cosmopolitan, and majority Jewish, city of Bialystok, Poland, which, in the early twentieth century, was part of the Russian Empire. The Topchevsky family was victimized in the 1906 Bialystock pogrom, but did not leave the city for the United States until 1911.

MORRIS TOPCHEVSKY . MORRIS TOPSCHEVSKY was born in Biealistock, Poland (formerly Russia), on October 15, 1899, and studied at Hull House and the Art Institute of Chicago. His outstanding teachers were Miss Enella Benedict and Albert Krehbiel, and he has learned much also from Aztec and Maya sculpture and the artists of Mexico.
