My Artistic Roots I come from a family of painters, with my dad a landscape artist and my grandfather a portrait artist. The first scent I remember is a mix of turpentine and oil paints, a smell that still feels like ‘home.’ From a young age I watched my dad paint, often painting alongside him.

My artistic roots began in northern Minnesota where I spent a large percentage of my childhood. I grew up around makers, entrepreneurs, and small business owners. The people around me taught me to make things from tools and materials they had around the house. It was one snowy winter; I discovered a man by the name of Bob Ross on PBS.

My artistic roots derive from my mother, who studied opera in New York. In fact, my mother named me after Vincent Van Gogh, a Dutch post Impressionist painter, in hopes I would someday become an artist. Thus, I studied fine art for several years and became an artist in the Los Angeles area.
