May 30, 2019 · The Performing Artist neck is a profile. It's not commonly used now. The current Reimagined Series uses the Modified Low Oval shape, paired with the High Performance Taper. Not sure what you mean by "high end" models? Martin is using this taper along with MLO shape on everything in the Reimagined Series including D-45.

Sep 06, 2016 · The shape is part way between the Low Profile and the Low Oval. The Performing Artist shape also has the fingerboard “shaping into the curve” like the Modified Low Oval. Height at nut end: .602” (15.3mm) Height at 10 th fret:.640” (16.3mm) Full Thickness: This neck shape is a very rounded shape making this the bulkiest of the necks in this list. It has the tallest height at the nut but it doesn’t taper out as much as the classic shape.

Probably Martin’s most contentious neck profile, players seem to only hold strong opinions about the Performing Artist necks. Definitely inspired by some of Martin’s competitors offerings, the Performing Artist neck is about as close as you can have an electric guitar neck slapped onto an acoustic body.

Aug 27, 2015 · Although the current spec sheets for PA series guitars say "Performing Artist profile" a search on the website for "high performance" shows the High Performance Neck appearing in the description of the D-18 and D-18E Retro, D-35 etc, but also in the description of several Performance Artist series models.

Mar 05, 2021 · The High Performance neck profile is as comfortable and effortless to play as an electric guitar, easy to grasp all the way around while providing enough mass to hold onto. It is slightly V’d so the palm does not flatten out like it does on the Martin’s Low Profile necks but not so V’d that it gets in the way of a Classical hand position, like vintage-style Martins.

2 days ago · The term “High Performance Neck” refers to ANY Martin guitar that was made with the High Performance Taper (originally called the Performing Artist Taper.) The taper refers ONLY to the fingerboard width, which starts with a 1-3/4” width at nut, but has a 2-1/8” width at the 12th fret.
