Jul 28, 2014 · Neil Shawcross was born in Lancashire, England in 1940 and has lived in Belfast since 1962. Shawcross studied at Bolton College of Art from 1955 to 1958 and also at Lancaster College of Art from 1958 to 1960.

Neil Shawcross Neil Shawcross is one of Northern Ireland’s leading artists. Although born in Lancashire he has lived and worked in Northern Ireland since 1962, when he became a lecturer in art at the Belfast Art College. Shawcross is well known for his portraits, which include a picture of the writer Francis Stuart for the Ulster Museum.

Artist Biography Originally from Lancashire in England, Neil Shawcross studied at the Bolton College of Art and Lancaster College of Art before moving to Belfast to take up the position of Lecturer at the Belfast College of Art. Primarily a portrait painter, he is also a print maker and has designed large scale stained glass installations.
