In 2016 Nicholas was an apprentice artist with the Santa Fe Opera where he sang the roles of Gregorio in Roméo et Juliette and Jake Wallace in La fanciulla del west of which Opera Today said, “…Nicholas Davis’ rolling mellifluous baritone made a significant impression as Jake…”. Nicholas has also appeared with Michigan Opera Theatre, The Chicago Opera Theater, and Chicago Sinfonietta.

Nicholas Davis was born in New York City in 1937. He studied at the Arts Students League, and in Mexico City. He was included in the 1969 Exhibition of 100 Afro-American Artists at the Philadelphia Civic Center Museum. That exhibition included the works of Henry Ossawa Turner, Romare Bearden, Hale Woodruff, Edward Bannister, as well as the then 32 year old Davis.
