This is the only make I know (is Steam-a-seam the same?), that is glue, with a paper backing that you can draw your shapes/pictures/applique design on. So, much along the same lines as 'teaching your Grandmother to suck eggs', this is how I used it.

Bondaweb is really useful for adding different colours to a piece. This is achieved by painting the Bondaweb. Make sure you paint the rough side. If you want a subtle change in tone, you can paint it with watercolours. Acrylic paint will give a stronger result. You have to wait until it is completely dry before pressing it onto your quilt top.

Painted Bondaweb ironed on top of handmade, hand dyed felt. Chiffon scarf scraps were added on top of the Bondaweb before ironing and melted together to the surface giving a lovely distressed feel. This was then machined with metallic threads and carved with a hot soldering iron! Gives a really antique feel.

Having the extra day made such a difference, to the work and to the group. All the students bar one were beginners in the Hot Textiles field and they all produced some brilliant work.
