Austin Palmer-Smith, a fine artist from New York City was born in Paris to a fashion model mother and a fashion photographer father. They returned to America and Austin was raised in Manhattan. He studied art at the University of California at Santa Barbara under painter Lawrence Gipe, and after at the ateliers of New York where he studied under painter Don Stacy.

Very. Farmers, mostly. As a kid I was decidedly non-athletic and, since I couldn't sing or dance, I made art. Inevitably I earned a B.A., M.A., and and M.F.A. in painting, mostly. The degrees are as insignificant as the institutions that granted them. After school I made my way to New York and worked in the art department of Sports Illustrated.
