Today, the sights and sounds in national parks continue to inspire artists in more than 50 residency programs across the country.

Shenandoah National Park's Artist-in-Residence program offers artists a chance to live and work in this exceptional environment. The works completed during the program will serve, through the creativity of the selected artists, to deepen the understanding and appreciation of Shenandoah National Park.
The application deadline is January 18, 2021 and the residency will take place in September 2021. Participating artists will receive a $3,500 stipend plus travel reimbursement. The residency is open to artists and writers working in all creative media (visual art, performance art, film, writing, poetry, etc.) and typically occurs in September or October. Basic housing is provided, but no other stipend is offered. As part of the residency, artists are required to do one public program for every two weeks of their stay.
