Fascinated with the human body, I decided at an early age to pursue the study of medicine. However, as a teen I realized that with art I could accomplish what few physicians would ever be capable of achieving – the blending and bending of the emotional and physical states of the subject – with that realization I decided to become an artist.

McKinnon is a fabulous drawing professor. Understanding that not everyone might be talented in this class, he makes an effort to help students see like an artist. Quite a few materials are required for this class, but if you took Draw100, you should be set for the first three projects.

I think McKinnon is one of the best drawing professors at scad. He gives a lot of feedback and helps you out a lot and his class doesnt have small assignments like Sketchbooks and etc. Make sure youre okay with working large though. Even the color pencil project was 22x30 which was honestly insane. Other than that though it was a great class.

MacKinnon was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, where he attended high school and later studied arts at St. Francis Xavier University. As a youth he also lived with his family in Kingston, Ontario, and Truro and Halifax, Nova Scotia. He studied Fine Arts at Mount Allison University and graphic design at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.
