Patrick Seaweed is mostly a self-taught artist. He started to carve at an early age, and was influenced by his brothers, Kwakwaka'wakw artists Norman and Alfred Seaweed. Paddy was trained in jewellery carving by Kwakwaka'wakw master carver Lloyd Wadhams.
