Patsy Hely. Patsy Hely (1947- ) trained at the East Sydney Technical College (now the National Art School) from 1976-77, completing a post-graduate year in 1979, and setting up a studio in the Glebe Estate Workshop. She was senior lecturer in the ceramics studio in the School of Contemporary Arts, Southern Cross University, Lismore, NSW, where she completed a Master of Arts (Fine Arts) in 1995.

WHEN Patsy Hely graduated from Sydney's National Art School in 1979, the dominant influence in ceramics was Bernard Leach, one of the best known and influential British potters, who advocated simple and functional form. Hely, however, pushed the boundaries of this tradition to produce more refined domestic objects made from porcelain.
