Born in 1877, Parisian artist Paul Emile Lecomte was the son of renowned landscape painter Paul Lecomte, who began teaching his son from an early age. Because of his artistic promise, painter Paul Emile Lecomte was later accepted into the École des Beaux-Arts where he studied under portraitist and history painter Fernand Cormon.

He studied under Emile-Charles Lambinet and exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon from 1868 onwards, obtaining an honorable mention in 1882, a third-class medal in 1888, and a second class medal in 1895.
