Paul Plaschke was born in Berlin, Germany, but his family moved to New Jersey in 1884. He is an achieved political cartoonist. Plaschke studied drawing at the Copper Union Art School and was a student of George Luks at the Art Students League in New York. In 1898 he moved to New Albany, married, and began his career at the Evening Post and Louisville Times.
