Mar 01, 2021 · I have a Peavey Artist 240 tube amp - sometime in the 70s I understand. I am not any kind of techy but I am willing to dive in. Haven't used it in years! Took it apart cleaned things up the best I could. It won't make a sound. That is except a crackle when I plug in a guitar cord into the input. What's with that? The (4) tubes glow and that's all I know.

Dec 24, 2013 · As the title suggests, I've just acquired an old Peavey Artist 240 amp. I haven't been able to find much info, but from what I can tell it's got a solid state pre-amp with tubes in the power section. 120 watts, and I think it was made sometime in the mid 1970s to early 80s.

Oct 17, 2020 · Ahh, A Peavey Artist 240. What a great amp. Those 4-6L6’s into one 4 ohm spk, that beast just roared, it’s a mean amp. I use to own one. Yes it’s a hybrid with the transistor preamp and Massive 6L6 pwr amp with 4 different input configurations. A Fender 5F6A Bassman, I have to admit thats a classic amp. It would make a good project.

Feb 09, 2016 · Peavey Artist 240 Help Please. So a guy brought me his peavey artist 240 to fix. Said he's not getting any sound out of it. This amp is a discreet preamp with 6l6 power section. I have replaced all of the big power filter caps and other larger electrolytics. Voltages look good at the tubes, running around 460 or so.

Aug 12, 2006 · I have had several amps through the years, and currently have a respectable collection. I occasionally use an Artist 240, and find that it's great bang for the buck. It's compact but a bit on the heavy side; however, the 4 6L6's driving a 12" black widow pretty much justifies the weight.
