Nov 02, 2006 · It's a 1980 model Peavey Artist VT. It's got the 12" Black Widow speaker which sounds a lot like a JBL D120 (or E120) to me. The preamp is solid state and the power section has 4 6L6 tubes for about 100 watts of power.

Dec 19, 2014 · Well, nothing says southern rock better than those Peavey hybrid amps. I never saw a 1x12 Classic VT myself, the 2x12 weighs 64 pounds. The early Classic amps used transistors in the preamps, the CT and VTX versions shifted to integrated circuits. The preamps will sound the same as the solid state head preamps of the era, as they are the same.

Aug 12, 2006 · The early (non-VT Series) Mace and Deuce were two of my favorites. I have a Mace VT, 6-6L6GC tubes and original BW speakers. I like it but prefer the early (no IC chip, all discrete transistor amps). Still holding a good value and not likely to drop that much! Al Terhune Member .
