Nov 02, 2006 · The VT series followed the initial series and changed to opamps instead of a discrete transistor frontend. I have a Mace VT with 2-12 BW speakers. Great amp all the way around. I had a Mace non-VT back in the seventies, wish I could get another one! The Mace has 6-6L6GC tubes and will slay about any amp out there! The Artist and Deuce were 4-6L6GC.

Dec 19, 2014 · Well, nothing says southern rock better than those Peavey hybrid amps. I never saw a 1x12 Classic VT myself, the 2x12 weighs 64 pounds. The early Classic amps used transistors in the preamps, the CT and VTX versions shifted to integrated circuits. The preamps will sound the same as the solid state head preamps of the era, as they are the same.

May 09, 2015 · Apparently the 100 Series has a preamp with discreet transistors, the VT has integrated circuit based preamp. How do I choose between these similar amps? I'd like to hear your opinions, especially from Peavey fans who have experience with these amps. The amp would be used strictly as a clean pedal platform (likely a Boss GT-100 and a Bogner Blue).
