Jul 15, 2012 · For some reason recently the Artistic/Brush strokes/sketch etc Filters menu is missing from the filters menu (not greyed out, but completely missing) in CS2, but not in Image ready. I've searched around alot but I can only find fixes for the "greyed out filters in Lab/16bit/CMYK" etc, but as I'm using RGB and 8bit this doesn't solve my problem.

Hi, I'm on photoshop CC19. I've noticed that the 'artistic' filters are greyed out when ever I want to apply an artistic filter to an image. I used to like and use the grain filter which I think was listed in the artistic filter gallery, but that no longer is available.

Jul 10, 2013 · If you have an adjustment layer (like curves, levels, etc.) highlighted in the layers pallet, practically all the filters will be greyed out, because you can't apply a filter to an adjustment layer (though you could select the filter's mask and apply the filter, but it may not give the effect you expect).

Dec 07, 2010 · Any reason why I can't activate the Artistic Filter in Photoshop 6.0? I created a print with the spatter brush from a photograph that was scanned but now I'm unable to duplicate the procedure. The "Artistic Brushes" remain "greyed out" unless I turn on the quick mask which then masks the layer and leaves me unable to add the filter.
