Georges Seurat and Paul Signac are considered the founders of the Pointillism movement. Artists at the time of Post-Impressionism were looking for new ways to paint “impressions” of what they saw around them. While impressionists were creating art with small brush strokes, Seurat and Signac took that a step further and used dots instead.
