Born in 1959 in Chennai, Preetha Kannan completed her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Stella Maris College, the University of Madras, in 1979. She then received a Diploma in Fine Arts from the College of Arts and Crafts, University of Madras, in 1984, and also completed a Post Graduate Diploma from the same institution in 1986.
