May 13, 2016 · I owned an Made in England Premier Artist Birch Club kit in silver sparkle lacquer and it was a really well made kit.I have seen some of the newer Chinese made Artist Birch kits and they are not near as nice as the made in England models.One of the biggest differences is the chrome plating on the made in England kit is far superior, it just gleams under the stage lights.

Dec 21, 2008 · The Gretsch Catalina Club kit with the 18" kick, 8x12, 14x14, 5x14 snare is a great sounding kit for about $500. But the Gretsch Catalina Club kit is a mahogany wood kit which I think sounds closer to an old Ludwig kit than a Gretsch kit. It is really not an apples to apples comparison with the Premier Artist kit.

I wrote earlier that Premier started out making drums for other people in the ’20s, but 50 odd years later they did it again with the Hamma drums they made for EMI-Rosetti with their own slightly dodgy badge in 1976.
