Mar 24, 2005 · Premier series are 3mm undersized. If you get a chance to look at a kit, you'll notice there is a little more of a gap between the collar of the drum head and the actual shell. The artist series isn't as undersized. From what I've looked at there wasn't anything that struck me as a lower quality of wood being used for Artist.

As far as starter drum kits go the Premier Artist Birch does a fine job, it's quite versatile, can sound very nice when tuned well and is very easy to play. I'm left handed and right footed and still can't figure out which kit set up is best so i have a Premier Genista set up …4.5/5(13)
