On returning to Central Otago Rachel settled in Cromwell in a 100 year old cottage and now with her three dogs and a large garden. In 2002 she won the Locations Painting Award at the Lakes District Museum Autumn Exhibition and has been involved in several public art displays and shows since.

Rachel is based in Cromwell, Central Otago, living in a 110-year old cottage with her dogs and a large garden. She is a full-time artist painting in acrylics and making sculptures out of metal. Living for some time in Japan and Mexico, which has strongly influenced her creative output, as does living in this unique, ancient environment of ours.

Rachel Lehmann was born in Asmara, Ethiopia, and studied at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland. She started her career as the proprietor of two contemporary galleries in Geneva and Lausanne, Switzerland, where she showed young artists who have since become internationally acclaimed, such as Jeff Koons, David Salle, and Candida Höfer.
