Ralph R. Miller Ralph R. Miller(1905 - 1984) was born deaf to hearing parents who placed him in the Illinois School for the Deaf at the age of 5. There he began to develop his artistic talents, although he did not have the unqualified support of his teachers.

Graduated the Illinois School for the Deaf in 1925; studied at the American Academy of Art, Chicago, then became a commericial artist. One of his major projects was doing the illustrations for the Signed English series of books published by the Gallaudet College/University Press. One of his children, Betty G. Miller (q.v.), is also a deaf artist.
