Ray Abeyta was an American painter of Basque descent. He was born Raymond Martìn Abeyta, on November 13, 1956 in the village of Santa Cruz in the Española Valley, New Mexico.

Ray Abeyta (1956–2014) Ray Martin Abeyta was raised in the small northern New Mexico village of Santa Cruz. Having grown up on the outskirts of Espanola, the self-proclaimed “Lowrider Capital of the World,” Abeyta’s New Mexican roots, as well as his nostalgia, are evident in the vehicle he drives, a classic 1956 Ford F100 pickup.
