Biography. Rex Goreleigh was born in Penllyn, PA, where he took to art as a way of coping with a speech impediment which he had since he was a child. He then moved to Philadelphia at the age of 15, when his mother died. A year later, he left for Washington DC, to attend high school there.

Biography. Rex Goreleigh was born in 1902 in Peullyn, Pennsylvania. He was first exposed to African American art in New York City while working as a waiter. In 1933, Goreleigh waited on the table of acclaimed Mexican Muralist Diego Rivera and was invited to observe the artist while completing the murals commissioned by the Rockefeller Center.
