A fourth-generation resident of the Skagit Valley, Richard Gilkey’s nearly lifelong connection to the region was the inspiration for a majority of his body of work. After serving with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, Gilkey traveled through Europe and studied the work of the masters.
