Richard H. Tallant was born in 1853 in Ohio. Tallant was a landscape painter and a sketch artist. He died in 1934. On his way to developing a major artistic reputation in Colorado, Tallant sojourned in the Salt Lake Valley for at least two years. While Tallant was in Utah he painted a view of the Great Salt Lake. He also worked in Zion National Park.
