Ruth Henshaw Bascom, also known as Aunt Ruth (December 15, 1772 – February 16, 1848), was an American folk artist who produced over 1,400 portraits. She was the daughter of Colonel William Henshaw and Phebe Swan of Leicester, Massachusetts and a schoolteacher from 1791 to 1801. Ruth Henshaw Bascom was an artist who followed her own drummer. She developed her own style, drawing from current styles, but making the work all of her own.
