Sanam Khatibi was born in 1979 in Tehran, Iran and lives and works in Brussels, Belgium. Her family fled Iran during the Iran-Iraq war when she was very young. They lived in the UK and Denmark before arriving in Belgium, where she grew up. This international upbringing informs her work and is evident in her diverse influences.
