Sheila Maki is known for her densely layered prints and mixed media works, and more recently for her drawings and paintings. Whether created with monoprint, silkscreen, watercolour, acrylic or pastel, Maki's imagery is inspired by human figures and landscapes as well as the visual ephemera of everyday life.

Sheila Maki focussed for much of her art career on printmaking. However she had to give up printmaking in 2001 and she now concentrates on drawing and painting. She has been living in Toronto, Ontario since 1969. Sheila moved her studio to Unionville (Markham) in the Greater Toronto Area in 1980 and has worked there since then.
