Jul 18, 2012 · The birch sounded great for live playing and the maple for a warmer sound. For any wood type if I had an SQ2 built I would go for the thin or medium shells and heavy kick. I had an SQ2 snare built in the same confiuration as the Artist Cottonwood because I wanted the tribal finish.
