Apr 29, 2008 · Installed latest package from debian.slimdevices.com stable main: SqueezeCenter Version: 7.0 - 17793 - Debian - EN - iso-8859-1 Pointed library scanner at collection (mostly MP3s, some FLAC and WAVs). Scanner proceeded to find & categorize all music. Server streams songs fine, and individual songs appear to have artist info, but the DB is missing all artist references.

compilations _do_ correctly appear under the artist's name when browsing by artist. And when browsing by album and sorting by artist name, they appear in the proper place, sorted by the album artiist's name. The bug, or inconsistency appears when viewing the albums of Various Artists, where that album is incorrectly listed.

Dec 30, 2009 · Squeezebox sets one artist sort per artist, so it came across the compilation and set the sort to Various instead of BT or Faithless (Doesn't seem the best way IMHO). Clearing the problem compilation FLACs of this tag resolved my second issue. The issue where FLACs were ignore was only resolved by re-ripping in Max on my Mac.
