Stephanie Armbruster’s luminous paintings originate in subjective experience. With their atmospheric presence, her compositions seek balance between figure and ground, blurring the lines between landscape and gestural abstraction. Much like their inspiration, each painting is a densely-layered accumulation of structure and symbolism.

Stephanie Armbruster obtained her BFA from Carnegie Mellon Univeristy. She currently holds a studio in Pittsburgh's East End at the Mine Factory. She is an encaustic painter who focuses on suspending pigment drawings and printed imagery between layers of resin and molten wax.
