Oct 26, 2018 · This is, so far, the earliest depiction of Stonehenge on Art UK, dating to around 1730. That's around 4,000 years after the first stones were erected. Obviously there were depictions of the monument before, such as in prints, drawings and medals, but this is one of the first in oils. It's by the otherwise unknown artist 'Leathes'.
