Jan 13, 2018 · Of course, you could consider that "western swing" is primarily “swing", i.e. jazz. Jimmy Bryant recorded some rather jazzy stuff back when the tele was an absolute novelty. There were also some jump blues players who adopted the tele (or esquire) early on: Clarence Gatemouth Brown (check his Peacock sides) and one BB King.

May 15, 2017 · Location: mojave desert. The best jazz sound of any of my teles is an ash body with Wilde micro coils, using flat wound strings (custom gauge) 10.5, 12,14,30,35,42. A decent jazz sound can be achieved with most any tele, neck pup, roll off tone all the way, turn tone knob until the muddiness goes away and you are set.
