May 19, 2008 · Does anyone know who the original artist is for "Way Down in the Hole" aka the theme song for "The Wire?" I know that it was performed by a different artist for each season, so it's kind of confusing to figure out who created the original version. I've seen everything from Tom Waits to Steve Earl to the Blind Boys of Alabama.
