Thomas Curtin Thomas R. Curtin was born November 15, 1899 in Pittsfield, Masachusetts. He moved to Vermont in 1943 with fellow artists John F. Carlson, Emile Gruppe, and Aldro Hibbard. The landscape of that state provided him with the subject matter of his most mature work including some of the snowscenes for which he was renowned.
