Album Rating: 5.0 If the song "Artist In The Ambulance" was a person i'd probly of tried to fuck it by now! I think the simplified guitaring comment is a bit harsh as the still have some amazing riffs, like the lead part in "Stare At The Sun" Cheers anyway though, good review! waronpeace August 19th 20054.1/5

The Artist in the Ambulance is the perfect album. It has its incredibly heavy and screaming moments, which are amazing. Also having its slower moments, filled with emotion and a fistful of meaningful lyrics. While listening to Thrice, youre muscles will tense, youre thirst will increase, and you will sweat profusely.4.1/5

However--The Artist in the Ambulance does capture everything we heard live from this band. Thick rousing arguably metalcore (I hear metal sensibilities in some tracks like Paper Tiger) tracks with timing changes, softer interludes contrasted with screamo-like sections make this band extremely fun and interesting to listen to.4.7/5

I like Thrice and this is my favorite album of theirs. So this is a 5/5 for me. For Vynil enthusiasts, there are no pops, I have heard this album probably 100 times since it came out and nothing sounds out of place, there are no distortions both physical in the pressing or in the sound. So this is a pretty safe/good purchase if you like thrice.4.7/5

With perfect reflecting lines such as, “What I have to show except the promises I never kept?”, “I know that there's a difference between sleight of hand and giving everything you have” and “Rhetoric can't raise the dead, I’m sick of always talking when there's no change”, and the fact Thrice have been donating part of the sales to a different charity organisation with every album, “The Artist In The Ambulance” …

Review Summary: While not atrocious overall, "The Artist in the Ambulance" is overrated and mediocre, and doesn't deserve the mountains of acclaim that it receives. Thrice, a post-hardcore band from California, are one of the most highly respected bands in their genre.

Vocalist Dustin Kensrue delivers a momentous performance with forceful lyrics throughout, and the melodic breakdown at the song’s conclusion stands as an album highlight. Though ‘The Artist in the Ambulance’ broadly features Thrice’s trademark emphatic complexity, it’s the simpler moments that showcase the quartet’s maturation. First single ‘All That’s Left’ and ‘The Artist in the Ambulance’ are …4.1/5
