Tina DeWeese received her BA in Arts and Humanities from The Evergreen State College in 1983. She's worked with a wide range of media including cast sterling jewelry, batik, collage, photography and bent wire sculpture. DeWeese was a founding member of RUBEDO, an artist cooperative at The Emerson Cultural Center in Bozeman, from 1994 - 2000.

DeWeese graduated from Ohio State University, where she studied with Hoyt Sherman, with a bachelor's degree in fine arts. There, she also met her future husband, Bob DeWeese. In 1943, she received a teaching certificate from the University of Michigan. Gennie moved to Wilmington, Delaware, where she taught school.
