Toc Fetch was born in Brooklyn. He studied for a year at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), though he quickly became disillusioned with academia. He moved to Switzerland in 1973, where he spent 10 years in a program learning the principles of Nondualism (also called non-duality; a term and concept used to define various strands of religious and spiritual thought).
