Sol Maya, a Canadian citizen of Native American, Mayan ancestry, was studying ceramics, sculpting and print making at Santa Barbara City College , in California in 1980. Between classes he'd watch the glass blowers working the glass. The more he watched, the more he fell in love with this art form.

Apr 15, 2016 · Sol Maya is an incredible artist with glass. He captures light and nature through his work. His beautiful plates of glass look fabulous inside and outside. Some of his work is on display at the Wickininnish Inn, in fact at their main entrance! Sol takes the time to explain what he is doing as he creates art in front of you.6 TripAdvisor reviews

Glass meets rain forest at the Spirit of the Fire Glass Studio where local Tofino artist Sol Maya plays with fire. Given the main ingredient in glass is sand, Sol has plenty of natural resources to draw from.
