From 1916 to 1926 the self-taught artist took part in the annual exhibitions of the Vienna Künstlerhaus and in 1927 he became president of the newly founded artist group ‘Wiener Heimatkunst’. Reich moved to Munich in 1935 as in his native Austria he had come under increasing pressure due to his National Socialist sympathies.
