In addition to premieres, the United Artists was the first theater in Detroit to install CinemaScope in 1953, and 70-milimeter in 1956. In 1950, a $200,000 ($1.8 million today) remodeling job modernized the theater, placing a drop ceiling and large concession stand in the lobby and new projectors, screen and sound system in the auditorium.
