220 reviews of Regal UA Berkeley "A cute older theater, six screens on two stories. It's well-maintained and attractive, with large murals on the walls. We went on a Saturday night and had no lines at all. It seems to show mostly big-name blockbusters, which is actually sort of unique for Berkeley."2.5/5(220)

We went to United Artists Berkeley 7. We enjoyed seeing The Martian, which is one of the nominated Best Pictures for 2015 for the Academy Awards. The theater is a historic theater with art deco decor. Staff is friendly and helpful. Quality of movie is good. Sound is good too. One thing to note is that since the movie theater is two stories and historic, there is a lot of stairs at the theater.4/5(4)

This long string of bank failures prompted President Roosevelt to declare a week-long bank holiday between 03/06-10/1933. (See "Banking Panics in the US: 1873-1933," Accessed 10/18/2013.) The economy was in a shambles, and even though people went to the movies to escape the gloomy economic news, receipts for many movie theatres …

Sep 14, 2007 · That was 75 years ago, Sept. 16, 1932, as Berkeley’s new United Artists theater opened on Shattuck Avenue, just south of the Berkeley Public Library. The opening was big news in Depression-era Berkeley, which preened in the assurance that a national corporation was willing to invest in the community, despite economic hardship.
