May 23, 2007 · This essay transcribes two hitherto unpublished entries in the registers of the Parma Baptistery that indicate Francesco Mazzola (1503–1540), better known as Parmigianino, and Antonio Allegri (1489?–1534), called Correggio after his native town – the two most celebrated artists then working in Parma – stood as godfathers for the children of other artists.
