The Waldo Midgley papers (circa 1860s-2003) contain materials relating to the career of Midgley, a Utah-born artist. Included in the collection are publications; an essay-type diary by Midgley titled "Birds, Animals, People, Things;" an inventory of Midgley's works; and a scrapbook created by Midgley containing original artwork and photographs, along with written entries.

Waldo Park Midgley was a painter, illustrator, printmaker, and teacher. He was born, raised, and died in Salt Lake City, Utah, but also spent a lot of time on the East Coast. Midgley studied with Mahonri Young in Utah from 1905-1907. In 1908 he studied at the New York School of Art.
