Wayman Adams was born in Muncie, Indiana on a farm on September 23, 1883. His father was an amateur artist and a farmer. He encouraged Wayman’s art interest. Wayman later studied art at the John Heron Institute in Indianapolis. In 1912, he went on a study trip to Spain where he met Margaret Burroughs, a fellow artist.
