The 2022 competition will be for Winds & Brass, and the rotation through the disciplines will continue from there (Voice in 2023, Piano in 2024, and Strings in 2025). Mar 02, 2020 · Byrd initiated the Young Artist Competition in 1970 with the assistance of the St. Cecilia Society of Flint, Michigan. Following his death in 1974, the St. Cecilia Society continued the competition and renamed it the William C. Byrd International Young Artist Competition in his memory.
