William Hubard (ca. 1809-62), who arrived in the United States in 1824, cut bust-length and full-length silhouettes, largely in cities along the eastern seaboard. He worked in Philadelphia in 1829. About 1833, he settled in Virginia, where he eventually took up painting. He collected duplicate silhouettes in an album (Valentine Museum).
