Jul 22, 1995 · William Joshua Smith (1905–1995), artist, was born on 12 March 1905 at Annandale, Sydney, third of five children of New South Wales-born parents James Alexander Smith, coach painter, and his wife Louisa, née Thorpe. Only Joshua and his eldest sister, Matilda, survived infancy.
